Parked at about 8500' elevation, the temperatures are ideal. It's pretty quiet up here on BLM land, though we did have some unexpected visitors one day.
At the farmer's market we saw Carol, who we last saw at Elephant Butte State Park in NM last fall. She has a booth at the farmer's markets in both Salida and Buena Vista on the weekends. She makes and sells the most colorful cloth napkins (on the table) and pot holders (hanging above the table).
There was a festival going on and we watched the small home town parade go by the park where the farmer's market is held.
My first time in Montrose. It was bigger than I expected with all the stores and businesses along the main highway. The downtown area was nice and reminded me a little of Grand Junction. I didn't have my camera while we were there though.
We drove out to Ouray which is a scenic little mountain town. (click on the pictures to see a larger version)
