I'm here with the WINs these last few days and we've been on some interesting outings. We went to the Clovis Depot Model Train Museum in town. There's an old locomotive out front.
And there are several model trains inside.
Though it's no longer used as a recording studio, they still have all the original equipment in working order.
On this tape player, we heard an original tape recording of Buddy Holly.
This is the recording studio.
On another day, we went to the Blackwater Draw site which was far more interesting than I expected. This is the actual archaeological dig with bones of various animals like mammoth, camel, horse, bison, sabertooth cat and dire wolf, some dating back more than 13,000 years ago.
My favorite outing was to the Windrush Alpaca farm. The boys were sheared last weekend.
This is Ric showing us this alpaca's teeth. He told us all about alpacas, some of which was fascinating. Almost makes you want to go out and buy a few alpacas of your very own.
The girls will be sheared tomorrow. We got to go inside the fence with them.
While there, I bought a pair of alpaca fiber socks. Very soft and we're told that alpaca fiber is warmer and more durable than sheep's wool. Looking forward to trying them out.
